Osteoporotic medullary bone, non-decalcified micro, from an elderly female. In osteoporosis, the bone trabecula are smaller, thinner and more widely separated. However, there is no defect in mineralization in osteoporosis, as indicated by a total lack of uncalcified, red-staining osteoid matrix in this preparation.
