Dr. Casey grew up in southern Indiana knowing she would be a doctor. At the tender age of 10 she started to volunteer at the local hospital. Dr. Casey financed her medical education by working full time at Indiana University School of Medicine in the biochemistry department and going to school at night. She received her M.D. from Indiana University. Soon after her first medical job at a University Student Health Center, Dr Casey felt that something was wrong with a system where the youth, supposedly in their prime, not only were getting sick, but after being treated with conventional medicine they would return again and again with the same condition. Even when she was trying to help others deal with their illnesses, she was becoming frustrated and discouraged with the way conventional medicine addresses health issues, especially when Dr. Casey herself had been dealing with her own illnesses most of her life such as peptic ulcer, colitis, asthma, allergies, headaches, dysfunctional menses, thyroid and auto immune disease. Desperate for answers, since none of the treatments she had gotten at any of her hospitals had helped her, she began her search, not as to why someone gets sick, but how can illness can be prevented in the first place? Regardless of her former medical training she became very open minded and decided to study many alternative modalities ranging from yoga, martial arts, and Eastern philosophies, to nutrition, psychology and spirituality. Interestingly enough, the more she began to apply the principles she was learning, the healthier she got. Then Dr. Casey began to apply what she had learned to her patients, generating immediate positive results. Since the fall of 1997, Dr. Casey has been based in Los Angeles, California. She is no longer practicing traditonal medicine. She is devoting her time to health coaching, allowing us to educate ourselves about our bodies and state of health. One very special part of her practice involves coaching people on fasts. Rainbow will be sharing her wisdom here...
